COMP Cams® “Deals Out” Prizes At The 14th Annual Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour

Special COMP Performance Group™ gift certificates awarded at each stop of the seven-day tour

For the fourteenth consecutive year, car and truck enthusiasts of all types fired up their high performance machines, braved some truly treacherous weather and cut through the heart of the Midwest for the 2008 Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour. At each stop of the tour, the COMP Performance Group™ personnel were in attendance to supply technical expertise and present prizes to a few lucky contestants in some new contests created just for this event.

This year, more than 2500 Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour Long Haulers traversed the entire trip, starting in Little Rock, AR, and finishing in Madison, WI. Along the way the tour stopped in Springfield, MO; Topeka, KS; Lincoln, NE; Ames, IA and Rochester, MN. The COMP Performance Group™ trailer was at each stop and had technical help for all CPG companies, including COMP Cams® and TCI® specialists, and a varied assortment of COMP Performance Group™ apparel for sale. COMP Cams® also sponsored the COMP Kidz 500 coloring contest everyday where kids 12 years old and under competed for a McDonald’s gift card.

But the hit of the tour was the “Deal or No Deal” Trivia contest. At each tour location, a randomly drawn contestant was given the chance to come to the main stage and answer a fairly easy trivia question about a COMP Performance Group™ company. If answered correctly, they earned a $100 gift certificate for COMP Performance Group™ products. They could then opt to walk away with the certificate or try to answer a second, more difficult question and receive a $100 gasoline gift card in addition to the prize already earned. If the second question was answered incorrectly, a COMP Cams® t-shirt and hat were the only prizes awarded. Only two winners earned the top award, Alan Haug of Grayslake, IL and Chuck Murray of Third Lake, IL.

This year, the Power & Performance News™ team was really on target, delivering daily reports from the field concerning the events and cars via the www.powerperformancenews.com website. More than ever, it was a chance to really see what participants do and go through to attend this event. For many attendees, this was the trip of a lifetime with great cars and great car people. Challenged by some unbelievably crazy weather that included tornadoes in Kansas, flooding in Iowa and Wisconsin and gusting winds in most locations, it was a wonder that these cars could make it through the tour (and laugh about it).

COMP Cams® Introduces Five New GM ZZ4 Power Packages

COMP Cams® and RHS™ join forces to eliminate the “performance dysfunction” that plagues GM ZZ4 crate engine owners

GM’s ZZ4 engine has great performance potential straight out of the crate; but in today’s realm of high performance engines, 350hp is not exactly something you brag to your buddies about. COMP Cams® is dedicated to producing top quality components that draw the most power and torque from any engine platform. As a result of this effort, COMP has designed bolt-on GM ZZ4 power packages that dramatically improve the horsepower, torque and “fun factor” associated with this engine.

Test results prove that carefully selected combinations of COMP Performance Group™ products can transform your stock ZZ4 into a small block powerhouse with bullet proof reliability. Each COMP Cams® Performance Package has been dyno tested in-house to demonstrate real world, repeatable results. *All tests were performed on a brand new GM ZZ4 engine which achieved baseline performance of 344 HP @ 5300 rpm and 390 lb./ft. @ 4300 rpm – both figures slightly less than the factory ratings. Our dyno tests utilized a Demon 650 cfm carburetor, 1 3/4–inch primary tube headers and the factory dual plane intake manifold (performance dual plane intake utilized for Stages 2-5 to supply adequate airflow).
